Kids movies in theaters: The Bad Guys

Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Awkwafina, Craig Robinson, and Anthony Ramos star as “bad animals” in the animated comedy The Bad Guys. To avoid a lengthy prison sentence, the group hatches a plan to pretend to be good citizens. It begs the question, “Can bad guys ever be good?”

In a review by Polygon, Jesse Hassenger says the film is “derivative and goofy, but it stays lively by mashing up Zootopia, Wreck-It Ralph, and decades of crime movies.” It may make you think of heist movies like Ocean’s 8

Audiences are loving it as they share their reactions on social media.

Kids movies in theaters: Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

Have your kids wrapped up in magic with Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Critic Amy Nicholson from The New York Times says the film shows that “fiction is not just a history lesson, but a means of escape.” While the film is set in a fantasy world, it reflects political moments in history.

Some of the violence in the film could be a little scary for viewers, but it’s worth seeing if your children love the wizarding world of Harry Potter or magic.
